Daenerys, being a leading woman in a man's world

Daenerys is a strong and mature woman who can constitute a good reference point for reflection in her behavior as a character. After seven seasons, one of the most iconic characters in Game of Thrones is Daenerys Targaryen. The young white-haired woman has managed to establish herself as a leader after many obstacles and difficulties.

Brought to the screen by the talented Emilia Clarke, the Mother of Dragons is a role model for her fierceness and determination. In a world where women continue to fight for equality, Daenerys knows exactly what she deserves.

Daenerys is definitely not an excellent role model. To be honest, no Game of Thrones character is. But Daenerys, despite her distance from perfection, is not without virtues: with a clear objective, she has decided to correct the mistakes of her ancestors.

Based on the books written by George RR Martin, Game of Thrones tells stories of epic battles and power struggles. In this panorama, different kings and queens, knights, renegades, bastards and murderers seek to win. Thus, Daenerys also tries to obtain the dominion of the Seven Kingdoms. However, your journey also involves a lot of personal growth.

Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains

Game of Thrones has achieved enormous success worldwide. Even those of us who like the series know its name and have heard of it. Game of Thrones is brutal, unpredictable, and very beautiful in its cinematography.

Daenerys Targaryen begins the series as a little princess in exile. Dominated by her brother, a maddened and abusive man, Daenerys is sold in exchange for an army. Married to Khal Drogo, the Mother of Dragons is treated like a slave. However, she soon manages to win the respect of her husband.

Unfortunately, her life as a wife and mother soon comes to an end. When Daenerys loses them both, she gets her three dragons in exchange. Emerging from the flames like the dragon that she is, Daenerys becomes an almost messianic figure. Little by little, Daenerys has gathered a faithful army, ready to follow her in her battle to conquer the Seven Kingdoms.

What does Khaleesi teach us?

Leading in a male-dominated society is difficult. The challenges faced by a woman in a position of power are varied. However, Daenerys is a good example of how to manage this power.

1. Letting go is winning in the long run

Daenerys throughout the series knows suffering closely, there is no doubt about that. It is used, hurt, betrayed and abandoned by many people. And even so, the Mother of Dragons continues to hold her gaze to life. As she grew stronger, Daenerys learned that one of the ways to succeed is to let go. And letting go implies letting go of those negative things in order to win.

For example, Daenerys decided to free the slaves from the Bay. She could have continued her slavery and sent them to fight on her behalf in battle to conquer the Seven Kingdoms. However, she preferred to release them. Why do this? By letting them go, Khaleesi made sure that those who stayed were truly the people who were faithful to her.

2. Accept fear, but don’t let it take over

As Khaleesi’s ambition increases, the challenges she faces also increase in difficulty. However, this did not stop her. Even though significant people died and she lost some battles, she kept going.

During many scenes, we could see Daenerys’s face full of despair and confusion due to the dilemmas that were drawn on her horizon. However, she never gave up. Even while feeling fear, she kept her purpose. The fear is a normal and natural feeling; Furthermore, if we interact intelligently with it, we can benefit from its existence.

3. You can be fabulous and strong at the same time

Most of the time, society has very high expectations of women. In the world of corporations and business, women are expected to be both delicate and strong. They are constantly judged on their looks and attitude. Somehow, there is a prejudice against fashionable women: as if beauty or sensitivity are at odds with intelligence, strength or courage.

Daenerys shows us that her decisions do not make her less feminine. Khaleesi takes care of herself and always tries to maintain an attitude of elegance and sophistication. Dress for the job you want, they say.

4. Valar Morghulis

Game of Thrones seems to be regretting the way it treated women in the first few seasons. Increasingly, the female characters gain light as the series progresses. All the women in the series are full of admirable abilities.

In our world, women are gaining more and more power. Leading companies, leading work teams, partnerships and projects. Television needs to reflect that. Valar Morghulis means “all men must die.” But, as Daenerys noted, no one has said anything about women.
