We Are Stardust: We Are Made To Shine

We are stardust - we are made to shine

In fact, this very poetic phrase originated in the 70s. Was the singer

Thinking about it is undoubtedly something overwhelming, as well as encouraging, a discovery that is confirmed year after year through multiple works and studies. Chris Impey, a scientist and professor of astronomy at the University of Arizona, revealed in 2010 that all carbon-containing organic matter was produced by a very ancient generation of stars.

Even more, if we take into account that all the raw material on Earth has the same origin, we must assume that  97% of the mass of our body is made up of the material of those ancient stars.

It is something magical, there is no doubt. We are made to shine, to shine like gold, to illuminate each other like diamond dust, yet… Why have we forgotten to shine? If we are made of stars … why are we not happier?

We are made of stardust, but sometimes we live in the dark

The darker the night, the brighter the stars. Sometimes it is enough for us to look out a window and admire that infinity to find encouragement and inspiration.

With its cycles, its movements, its silent music and its cosmic beauty, the world of the stars has always served as a reference to humanity in many areas and disciplines related to agriculture, science and even spirituality.

However, and here is the real magic of the matter, we have always limited ourselves to seeing that plane relative to the stars as something distant, and even superior to ourselves.

We also have little bits of stars in our tissues, very old stars of that cosmic rebirth that therefore gives us a power and a capacity: to shine in any adverse scenario, situation or moment, no matter how dark everything that we are. wraps up.

When darkness surrounds us: the blue whale

It is not easy to shine, we know. People often navigate in the oceans of darkness, in those marshes of perpetual unhappiness and in those arid territories where the seeds of self-love no longer grow.

It is a very harsh reality. So much so, that as a mere example of this dark reverse of the human being, we can speak of a perverse game that has already been the subject of several headlines in the media: we speak of the “blue whale”.

This macabre game, which originated on the Russian social network VKontakte in 2013, is now being played around the world through 50 tests. The same ones that, for various and complex reasons, attract hundreds of adolescents on a journey of self-sabotage, self-harm and slow destruction until finally the young man, in a “supposed” act of courage, manages to overcome the game by taking his own life.

The creator of this sadistic game is Philipp Budeikin, 21 years old. According to him, he gave shape to this virtual challenge because, as he explains, “there are people who are biodegradable waste of no value to society”.

Russian psychologists, for their part, indicated that behind the behavior of this young man and his followers there are deeper roots that oscillate between the ideological and the psychopathological.  The most remarkable thing, the most worrying thing about all this, is the number of vulnerable people behind each device, each computer and mobile phone.

There are hundreds of young minds and fragile hearts who breathe without feeling hope, without having motivators, joy and that light with which to inject life, self-respect and self-esteem.

Hope, our desire to help others and fight for common survival is something that characterizes the vast majority of us. While it is true that we often forget how to shine, there is always someone by our side who will encourage us to regain strength and breath.

If we forget that we are made up of stardust, our friends, family, partner or some kind-hearted stranger will always be there who will give us part of their magical material to relight the fire of illusion and joy, giving us millions of “pink whales”.

Because there is nothing like caressing the soul of a person to perceive the greatness of the cosmos itself.
